Day 34: Learn to be transparent

    Be transparent

The DNA of Discipleship: Nurturing Relationships 2

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

    Matthew 5:16

Transparency is another characteristic of a Jesus learner. The way we truly are is never hidden from God. His Scriptures can cut to the bone showing us what we are like. When we are transparent, others can see what is going on and encourage us. It means we don’t have to pretend to be something we are not. We can be real about our struggles and our hopes. We can accept people for who they really are and accept ourselves, since God has accepted us in Jesus.
Transparency is necessary if we really want to encourage one another to love and good works. We let His light shine into our lives and receive motivation and direction. We don’t have to be like Adam and Eve who hid from God after they sinned. We maintain healthy boundaries but are open to learn. We reflect on who we are in Christ in the openness and safety of our faith community. Shine your Light in and through us for Your glory, O Lord.

    For Reflection:

    • Do you think Jesus was a transparent person?
    • How is he an example for us?

    Make Life Count:

    • On a scale of 1 to 10, how transparent a person are you? Is that what you want?
    • How do you let your light shine for Jesus?
