Develop healthy habits
The DNA of Discipleship: The Jesus Model
And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.
Luke 2:52
Don’t underestimate the value of small healthy habits practiced over a long period of time. This is true in how we eat, exercise or grow as learners of Jesus. Scripture reading, even something as brief as a few minutes with God, will accumulate benefit over time. A daily prayer for laborers takes seconds but keep your eyes open for God to work.
Inviting and encouraging another to share a weekly encounter to discuss what you are learning together using the questions for nurturing relationships can have an enormous impact in laying a spiritual foundation and can be a most valuable investment of time. Of course without Jesus in the center of these activities, they can seem like hoop-jumping but with Jesus in the center, these habits can significantly deepen us as His followers.
For Reflection:
- How did Jesus grow in the areas mentioned in Luke 2:52?
- How do you keep habits from becoming religious duty?
Make Life Count:
- Thank God for one habit that helps you in life.
Hungry for More?
- Is there a habit we can rejoice with you? Or one you are working on to improve?
